Christ: Our Best Chance To Live

The Samaritan Story

In the story of the Samaritan, the situation for the man who had been beaten and left half dead, seemed promising when the priest and the Levite walked down his path. The KJV calls it a chance when it refers to the timely appearance of the two religious persons.

Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. Luke 10:31-32 NKJV (emphasis added).

A chance, because humanly speaking, the two were the people you could’ve wanted to see if you were in danger. But the chance didn’t count for anything, and it did not yield the anticipated help.

Sorry for the victim.

The priest and the Levite passed the dying man. Actually, they avoided him. As they walked away from him, so did his hope for survival diminish with every increasing distance of these disappearing men.

Life Beyond Chance

It’s risky to stake your life on a mere chance. Make the best use of chances, but when one passes by, you must not allow your hope to shrink because of it. Certainly, there is an opportunity that you miss, and you conclude that there is no more hope for making it, ever.

A promising deal goes bad, and a sense of hopelessness sets in. A prospective spouse (someone you think you might marry) exits your life, and it seems your entire marriage dream has gone down the drain.

You blunder and lose an opportunity to complete your studies, and all that remains are regrets and wishes about the life you had hoped to achieve - yet because of the mess, it appears no more.

How Shall You Cope?

What should you do when a Chance passes by? How should you cope with the disappointment resulting from lost opportunities?

Is a lost chance the end of the road for you? Is there hope for a person who has missed his or her best opportunity to make it in life.

Sieze This Rarest Opportunity

As you ask your self those soul-searching questions, remember that like the Samaritan came near the beaten man, Jesus is also having compassion on you. He is getting you back to your feet.

Of all opportunities you have missed, I hope you won’t miss the opportunity to connect with Christ who was smitten, undressed, killed and forsaken for you.

Look to Jesus, Today. He is your best chance at life. He is your best shot at recovery, restoration and newness of life.
